Stress: The evil of the century!

October 27, 2017

Stress is a pain for some and fuel for others. Let’s face it, we live in a world of performance, where it is difficult to maintain a balance in our energy level.

More and more the consequences of stress are felt in our society. In 2012, an estimated 20% of civil servants suffered or had suffered burnout. Most medical students or students in other demanding study programs already suffer from burnout upon graduation from college. Can you imagine what it’ll be like then after working for 10 years, with a mortgage and 2 children! You can only hope that there’s no divorce to add to the equation…

Most conscientious people listen to the advice of leading health professionals and adapt their lives accordingly. So, at “GO” we change our whole life: we eat gluten-free, lactose-free, we start training indoors 3 to 4 times a week, and why not add a little hot yoga session? As if our weeks weren’t busy enough… when we’re already exhausted, why not do more?

Do you really understand stress?

Stress can be a consequence of nutritional, postural, hormonal and even psychic imbalance. Stress, often referred to as cortisol, is what we might call a “reaction to an abnormality”. Stress, however, can be a good thing when used healthily.

Do you know the game Mario Kart?

Let me simplify for you what healthy energy use is. I’m guessing everyone has played Mario Kart before. To accelerate, there is a button to control the “gas”, the A as far as I can remember. This makes us accelerate at a steady and constant speed. We can ride all day with our thumbs on this button.

And there is the trigger which is the “boost”. When you click on it you accelerate at full speed for a brief moment, which is fun. If only we could keep using boosts all day! Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

I think you get the point. We have constant energy coming from our energy cells, mitochondria for the body, neurons for the brain. These are our “gas button”. And we also have a back-up energy system that comes from our nervous system, which is our “trigger”. The latter system, which is made up of adrenal glands, functions at intervals.

Stress + Inflammation = Problematic

This is my key phrase when I discuss an issue with a client. Any problem is the consequence of various sources of stress and inflammation which, manifested together, present us with various well-known problems such as depression or anxiety.

Well yes depression, like anxiety, comes from stress but also from inflammation. An unresolved injury, combined with a lack of sleep and a poor diet are inflammatory for the body, in addition to awakening our alarm system in the face of abnormalities, our famous cortisol.

Unbalanced adrenal glands make it difficult for our bodies to properly manage various abnormalities, and even to properly use our famous performance trigger that I used to call the “boost”.

The solution

To remedy the various problems of depression, anxiety, concentration, chronic fatigue, and even libido, you have to use the right tools.

Above all, we must ensure that we get enough quality sleep, healthily manage our optimal performance (peak performance) as well as have an adequate diet. Eating well is one thing and eating adequately, adequately for yourself, is another.

If you are already working on these points, it is time to take another step. What you may need is a supplement to balance your adrenal glands and some neurotransmitters.

With all the knowledge I have acquired over the past few years, I strongly suggest that you use the supplement “ADRENAL” from the company Advantage. You will see a huge difference in your energy, anxiety, decision making, sex drive, as well as your pain and inflammation levels.
